Edward is passionate about music education. He holds Master of Music degrees with Distinction in solo performance and in accompaniment, and prepares students for careers in both specialisms. He is a highly sought-after teacher and his pupils have won major prizes at numerous international competitions.

As a lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he has created all of the new accompaniment modules available to students. Additionally, he has established a unique training programme focusing on working as a rehearsal pianist for symphonic choruses in partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Much of his teaching work at the conservatoire centres around the skills required of collaborative pianists, such as sight-reading, working with instrumentalists and singers, and improvisation for dance.

Edward is a principal study piano teacher for the universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, and has given masterclasses at higher education institutions at home and abroad. He was the 2019 piano adjudicator at the Aberdeen Music Festival, and has recently worked at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre as a visiting lecturer, delivering classes and chairing postgraduate degree level examinations and competition juries.
